I remember having to force the game to run on one core; but that was to avoid crashing. It does seem as if you are encountering an in-game bug.. Either way good luck :]

Sorry it's been awhile. The download didn't work (I downloaded it and extracted it successfully, but it didn't fix the issue), but I'll try the single CPU core and see what happens. Hopefully it'll work!

Thanks! I almost resorted to the single core at first when it was crashing, but the first patch fixed that. Almost any other game and I don't think I'd go to such lengths to fix, but I'm totally into this one (almost as much as Amnesia).

Nice! Hope you enjoy the rest of the game. Notice that the ship level is bugged when you don't use my fixed files. And at the end there is a very difficult fighting sequence. I only got it with cheating.

Imagecfg allows you to set core affinities (so that the game always starts in 1 core mode) instead of having to do it through task-manager.
