I think she won, not because she did good music (none of them did and very seldomly do in ESC) but to make a statement. And I don't see the bad thing in that.

its a music competition, her/His/it singing was imo horrible. The only statement one could recieve of that is that trans-gendered people are bad at singing.
I've listened to other songs and they're far better than what wurst did
I agree that there were a lot of better singers than her but the point is that the fact that she's transgender and gained such a positive rep for says a lot about how far we've come in the transgender rights (and homosexual rights for that matter)
The thing is, even if you don't think being transgender is a big thing and not something you really think about that is so far from the case with a lot of people, bigots are still around and by using ESC to show the flip-side, which is the amount of people who do care and stand up from transgender rights, then I think it's one of the absolute best platform to make such a statement.
PS: ESC is as much politics as the Olympic games are, if you think ESC is solely a music competition, you're dead wrong.
As a Brit, Eurovision is laughed at by everyone as nobody actually cares. We accept that everyone hates the UK, we don't need a voting system to tell us that

stuff like this is the very reason its important she won
This time around, ESC was about beards, not the music, beards.
Should have participated, could've won.
that competition is more/less a joke from what ive seen and if it can help spread acceptance of trans people who are debatably the most oppressed and abused group of people throughout history (which can pretty clearly be seen even through the other posts in this thread on the matter) then fuck yeah she should have won
i want to ask you guys a question which is more important taking a very big wide spread and public step forward to equal treatment of a group thats hardly even recognized in society or some random person with a good voice getting 15 minutes of fame that will most likely be forgotten about in half a year
