I still think it was a very inappropriate thread, even if I didn't actually look at any pictures (just one, for half a second, that was enough for me). I can't understand how people can find that kind of stuff thrilling, it's only disgusting. Nothing personal against anyone, I just think that kind of stuff shouldn't be shared for entertainments sake, and you can disagree with that. Good riddance though.
Even if you consider it to be in bad taste does not mean you or anybody else has the right to prohibit people from sharing it with other interested parties. It was in its own thread, clearly designated to be used to post such content, and there were no images or videos in plain view. The only way you could "accidentally" view that information against your will would be to click on a thread that has "disturbingness" in its name, totally ignore the OP which dispels any ambiguity regarding its nature and then imprudently click on a link which often has the exact thing it depicts in the URL, wrapped in spoiler tags and surrounded with color coded NSFW warnings. Dunno about you but generally I don't think laws or rules in general should take into account stupid or extremely imprudent people. As Ashtoreth pointed out, it is not in fact against the rules and you can actually even see some of this stuff on the news.
Bye bye disturbingness thread. You shall not be missed by me.
Never got to know it that well.
Never really cared well.
Never really gave a shit.

But you weren't it's audience. It was not against the forum's rules, and was closed because a mod simply didn't like it despite being "legal" content.
Just because you don't like it. It doesn't mean it should be closed. That's the mentality many governments/religions take over various matters, and it can be very destructive to people's freedom.
And this is simply the same thing that made people angry about Statyk when he started to delete posts of the random thread for personal reasons rather than for the forum's rules.

I think people misunderstand the situation here, I didn't close the thread. And just because I agree with the action taken doesn't mean I'm not for freedom of speech, I just think that kind of stuff is sick, especially finding some kind of entertainment value in it. It's disgusting. And I'm allowed to say that.
Goodbye my lover, goodbye my friend. You have been the one, you have been the one for me.
