Religious aspect? Doubtful....there are about 4 areas in The Dark Descent which are named for parts of a chapel, yet there is little reference to religion other than the occasional cross you find. They (meaning the chapel and other religious trademarks) may simply be there for cultural flavor rather than to serve some purpose in the storyline, much like there are paintings and blueprints scattered around Brennenburg. Does that mean Alexander is an artist or an architect? Not necessarily.
Religion is a big aspect of most horror games, it may be too cliche for FG but I wouldn't rule it out after seeing the picture of the altar.
Also, flame wars about relgion? Really guys, get a grip (if it comes to that)
Now that I've stopped arguing with people and new promotional media has begun to seep out from the developers, I think I'm going to leave this thread and go on media blackout. I disliked having bits of Amnesia spoiled for me, so I'll try to prevent that this time around!

Or pigs into men
I think it's a machine to butcher men, operated by pigs. That's why it's a called A Machine for Pigs. It was built for them, to their specifications. It's probably OSHA-compliant too.
Doesn't the line go "This World is a Machine. A machine for pigs. Fit only for the slaughtering of Pigs."
I'm guessing that this "Machine" is sentient on some level. It was originally built to slaughter pigs, but then started slaughtering humans for some reason.
"Catherine" and "Portal all" over, eh? Though, I mus admit I like the concept, it could be executed quite well and dark in the Lovecraft's line. After all, we have some basis for it, for example - remember that telepathy/speaking-device in Amnesia that Agrippa used? It could be the same level of technology, magitech.

Agreed, grow up...
Wait, are you saying that I need to grow up because I predict that it will cause flamewars, or are you saying that people who go into flamewars over such subjects need to grow up?
I don't know if A Machine For Pigs will actually contain pigs, but wouldn't
this sound make you shit your pants? Imagine it with the dynamic range the sound designer is planning to use... you're playing the game, it's very quiet and suddenly your hear that sound echoing through the corridors.

You forgot to mention the connection Agrippa makes between Daniel(the protagonist) and Daniel(from the Bible).
Oh and in one of Daniels Journal entries, he calls Alexander a "Renaissance Man", equivalent to Da Vinci.
I'm a Cthulhu cultist and I find Frictional Games' works offensive.
