It starts off looking like any old shooter and then gradually becomes more disturbing and surreal. It's a great experience and the developers had the full support of their publisher, 2K games.
I was going to say. Spec Ops: The Line is actually quite a good game. The shooting mechanics really needed some tuning, but the original purpose of the game was to set out to explore the psychiatric impacts of fighting a war, which I thought it completed pretty admirably. There are some parts that are a little glorifying, but mostly pretty good.

Not every long game feels like it drags things out. There are a lot of games much longer than 60 hours without being obtuse at story.
I want to mention the old "Gothic" series or the adventure "Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine" from 1999. It is very long, but never drag things out. To make a game longer means not it will automatically lose impact.
You are right, that most games failed by that, but as be can see from some other games, it is possible to fill a long game with interesting stuff.

How the hell could they make a "very different" game like AMFP then?
I think, most indie games are not just more experimental, they are also better. Or does anyone think, EA could make a better horror game like Dark Descent? Even more frustrating is the fact that a lot of *TRASH* on the TV and game console do get a (big!) budget to produce their FOUL.
Indies are smaller and risk more experimental ideas, and what we see is Penumbra or Amnesia with VERY emotional and intellectual story and mediation!
I think, games should be seen as art. Not like just playing for fun.
EA can produce far better content than Amnesia, but they're a company and no longer care about quality, but about money, if they decided too though, I imagine they could.
That's what Marcus Persson thought too and that's why he created Mojang.

I never actually had a problem with the shooting itself. I thought it felt good. I don't play a ton of shooters, though.
As far as the game's themes goes. I think they were trying to aim more specifically at modern war-themed shooters than giving any message about actual war. They tackle a lot of tropes made popular in CoD-like titles and flip them on their heads.

Longer version of the interview posted a few pages back.
Version of the interview is the same and has been ... The full version is not yet have posted, I do not know where you get the idea that it is complete?
I'd like you to look at the two interviews again. They are not the exact same and I never said it was the full version. I simply said it was a longer one.

Can you show it?
No, but really, I do not see any change in the post. Nowhere did not indicate that he edited. Cann't say exactly what has changed in the published material in your view?
Since we lost info on AAMFP to discuss, let's talk about Dear Esther. (Wait, wut?)
