The Mockingbird video implied that Golaski-Bot was perceiving something different from what Reed saw - hence him claiming to be standing up and moving while the robot shell remained inert.
I don't think this is about an alternative or virtual reality. The Golaski-Bot is unable to perceive what Reed perceives, because the Golaski-Bot has no eyes and no other way of seeing. But the Golaski-Bot is convinced it is really Golaski, so it attempts convoluted justifications to explain why it can't see anything.
This is precisely what people do when affected by perception disorders which limit their vision, or which render them unable to use one of their limbs (or unable to recognize that one of their limbs has been removed); rather than acknowledge the disability, they invent alternative explanations as to why they can't see or do something. That's what the Golaski-Bot is doing.
