Uhh, the complexion of the picture is just bad in general though.

The white fog messes with the background. Looks like their is particle fogs in the sky or its just a low-res skybox.

You should just use the default brightness/contrast for screenshots. But add a bright box light in-game if you want to make the picture brighter.

The rocks should be raised higher if you were trying to imitate a mountain.
When you're making an outside level with fog you're pretty much forced to use black planes as borders unless you're ok with that really annoying effect where the fog affects the mountain in the background but not the sky.
Quick demo. Check those damn values. The left one is a lot brighter and even it is not that easy to read.

There is no thought about composition. Atleast use the rule of thirds when you take a screenshot.

If you put a black image into your Moddb page or something when you are releasing your story its not gonna get much attention.

Complete darkness in an environment is not scary or unsettling. Try using many light sources but which cover short ranges and have a lot of darkness in between them. What was with that barely reading lamp on the right? Make it light stuff, make the scene interesting.

Might be your monitor if you see that clearly.

I'm fairly sure mine is properly adjusted with a decent quality monitor.

Although if you are running a mac there is something different in there compared to pc's. I'm not quite sure how it might effect everything though.

It's got a title, main menu, and a cohesive amount of gameplay now. Also, how do I change the font of the menu items on the right side?

Seeing this reminds me of the Black Lake Lodge from Condemned 2: Bloodshot...

If you follow that, OHMAHLAWD, NOPE.

Nice critique!
So I spent the night making this:

Billboards look like shit, I know. Gonna fix that up tomorrow though cause it's like 5 am.
Needs more Details/Particles, also the hole in the roof seems pretty pointless.
Are those objects flying or just hanging in the air?

Kman ffs, stop making white borders, if you're too lazy to edit them out alteast make them black! GAWD!
